Welcome to Highland Heart Ceremonies

I am guessing that if you are here you have found the love of your life, which is truly something worth celebrating.

Congratulations to you both!

Planning your special day is exciting, with a lot to consider.

Traditionally weddings have been conducted by a church official or registrar, following a format which doesn’t really allow for much creativity or personalisation.

My wedding ceremonies are individually written and are personalised in line with your style, beliefs and traditions.

I would love to work with you on your special day, and I am a born romantic.

If you choose me as your celebrant I will create a joyful ceremony with you and for you, including all the elements which you wish to include, and nothing that you don’t.

I’m here to offer advice, so feel free to send me a message.

Your wedding is YOUR day

You may already have some ideas about how you would like your wedding day to look.

Perhaps you have in mind a large occasion with all your friends and family, or a smaller more intimate gathering, or even just the two of you.

Once this decision is made, the next step is to secure your location, then to hit the contact button below.

I look forward to hearing from you, and good luck with your planning!!

It might be helpful to read through some FAQs before you get in touch, as you may find the answers to your initial questions.

FAQs

What is the process to have you conduct our ceremony?

When I receive your message, I will get in touch to arrange a meeting with you both. This will give me the chance to get to know you as a couple, to find out what your relationship means to you, and to discuss any wedding plans which you may already have in place.

I will gather as much information as I can in order to write you a beautiful ceremony, focused on your love for one another and your future together.

We will discuss in detail the style of ceremony that you would like.

There are no right or wrong ways to celebrate your love.

Your wedding day is unique to you as a couple, with your love story forming the thread which I will weave throughout your ceremony.

At every stage of planning I will make sure that you are completely happy with how the ceremony is taking shape.

I will provide you with the full ceremony script so that you may make any final edits well in advance of the day itself.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as you can.

Once you have decided on a date and secured your venue, please make your booking enquiry.

Celebrants are typically booked 12-24 months in advance.

If you are planning a ceremony in the next 12 months, by all means send me a message as I may be able to work with your chosen date.

Do you belong to a particular belief organisation?

As an Independent Celebrant, trained with the Scottish Celebrant Training Academy, I am not affiliated with any specific belief organisation.

This said, I can incorporate any of your own beliefs or faith elements into your ceremony.

You may wish to include hymns or religious readings, of your own personal choice.

You may wish to shimmy down the aisle to Kylie Minogue - no ideas are off the table!

Your ceremony, which we will plan together, will reflect you perfectly. You have my word.

Will our wedding ceremony be legally recognised?

Under current rules, before I conduct your ceremony you are required to legalise your marriage in the registry office of the local authority in which you wish to marry.

If you are travelling to Scotland from overseas, then it is simple to take care of the paperwork at home before you come.

When we meet I will explain this process in more detail - it is quite straightforward.

There are huge advantages to completing the legal side of things in advance. It means that no one

will have the responsibility of keeping legal documents safe throughout the wedding celebrations.

Your day itself will focus entirely on the commitment that you are making to one another, with none of the pesky paperwork!

What is your fee?

If your wedding is to be held within 50 miles of Inverness, my fee is currently £550.

Anything over 50 miles will incur a charge of 50p per additional mile.

Do we need to organise own microphones etc?

Not at all. I provide my own high quality PA system and wireless microphone.

This is one less thing for you to think about.

Depending on the size of your wedding and location, a microphone may not be necessary, but the option is there.

Can you give us an idea of what our ceremony would look like?

As mentioned above, there are no rights and wrongs - your ceremony can be whatever you want it to be.

As a rough guide though, typical ceremonies include things like:-

Readings and/ or poems

Songs or hymns of your choice

Your love story (which I will hand craft for you)

Your vows (which you may wish to write yourselves)

Exchange of wedding rings

Additional rituals, for example hand fasting, lighting of candles or drinking from the quaich

Any music which you may wish to include

Anything else which you would like to suggest!

There are no restrictions on location.

If you wish to get married on the beach, you can do that!

There are many stunning locations in the Highlands for you to consider.

These are just some guidelines and every ceremony is individual.

Take time together to discuss what you’d like to include, and I’ll look forward to hearing your ideas.
